Unlike many of the Tony Horton One on One workouts that work multiple muscles, in Diamond Delts, the main goal is working your deltoids.

Tony rotates though the exercises with a small break between sets. The sets consist of multiple versions of shoulder fly’s, shoulder presses, upright row, and pikes press.

In my opinion Pikes Press is the showpiece of this One on One workout. Tony Horton includes one set in each round of the workout. For those that haven’t done a pikes press, it’s the equivalent of a pushup with the top of your head parallel to the floor. With a simple adjustment of the height of your feet, this move can go from easy to having your muscles screaming in agony (and they do!)

I started out with my feet on the floor and progressed to putting them on the counter. At first I used standard pushup bars, but after a few weeks as I started elevating my legs, I noticed that the pushup bars would flex with each pushup. This was very distracting to my workout. After another week of indecision, I purchased the P90X Power Stands. When they arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the thick grade of steel that was used. This quality and extra stability provided by the Power Stands made it a well placed investment.

When I first received my One on One Diamond Delts workout DVD, I was on my second round of P90X. By rotating this into my P90X workouts as a replacement to one of the upper body DVDs, I got that little extra pump I was looking for. After a few weeks of Diamond Delts, I started noticing my deltoid muscles were no longer a smooth round shape but had developed a more sharp cut look.

Now that I finished P90X, I still continue to include Diamond Delts in my weekly workouts.

No workout can do everything but I am hard pressed to find any workout that rocks your delts like Diamond Delts does. When it come time to pull one of Tony’s workouts from the shelf, due to its unique focus on the deltoids muscle, the P90X Diamond Delt’s is always one of my top choices.

Clocking in at 66 minutes, Plyocide will definitely challenge even the best athlete!

In contrast to the P90X Plyo X workout, there are not as many moves that go super deep. Instead, many of these moves explode up with speed! Plyocide includes 20 explosive exercises ranging from rope jumps, to half pipe spins, and weighted quick jumps!

Tony fires up the workout with a couple of minutes of jump rope, working on those calves, achilles, and get the blood pumping. You’ll need a jump rope, the adjustable type works best. Oh, and don’t forget your water bottle, you’ll need that too!

Don’t skip the stretching and yoga moves that follow! You’ll need to stretch your legs, hip flexors, and spine to prepare for the pure plyometrics torture that is coming.

Plyometic moves start with a lot of jumping – side to side and one foot at a time on your toes. Yikes! It’s already difficult but your calves will look great!

If that’s not hard enough, next up is “Killer Catherine Lunges”. These are not your regular “Mary Catherines”. You hold a medicine ball with two hands and go from side to side with the medicine ball while doing the lunges fast!

This workout is really about taking many exercises you are already familiar with to a higher level. We all know “Chair Pose” in yoga. But have you ever done chair pose while jumping and then switching to running? It’s a challenge and not for the faint of heart.

I kept up with most of the workouts but the 180 spins were just not happening for me. Tony warns that if you get dizzy, please stop! So I did! Spinning is not my thing but you may love it!

“Lunge Jump Lunge” requires a box. You lunge towards the box and then straddle the box and jump side to side.

Overall P90X One on One Plyocide is a great, challenging workout. If you have knee problems, I don’t recommend it for you with all the hopping and jumping. If you are without knee problems, go for it!

If you get through this one, let me know

P90X One on One Base and Back combines Pull-ups and Plyometrics. For the warm-up Tony Horton starts out with 2 minutes of jump rope, which is an enjoyable change from the typically running in place that starts off many of the P90X workouts. The warm-up continues with a basic 10-minute yoga routine. Tony then moves onto the typical P90X One on One stretching.

As fifty percent of this workout is composed of aggressive pull-ups, I highly recommend the P90X® Chin-Up Bar. After over a year of using the P90X pull-up bar, I’ve had zero issues with it flexing or bending. The less expensive chin-up bar I previously purchased from a sporting goods store bent after a few months.

This P90X One on One workout incorporates ten moves that are repeated twice. The Base and Back workout starts out with No Kip pull-ups. These are standard pull-ups where you keep your legs in a fixed vertical position. Tony moves onto Plyo Frog Squats which are a jump from a frog squat position with a clapping motion at the top of the movement.

The next pull-up is a wide leg close grip chin-up. I found this move to be extremely difficult with my P90X Door frame pull-up bar; this was because, with my legs in a V position, my knees would be pressed up against the doorway. Any swinging resulted in my shins hitting the doorway. It was a great motivator to perform a perfect chin-up!

Base and Back also includes the unique chair jump squats that start in a yoga chair pose, with your fingers touching the ground instead of up. At this point you would perform a jumping motion that moves your hands skywards them back to the original pose. It looks really easy but with your having your body in a chair post really pushes the muscles in the legs to their limits.
The spinning chin pulls are just two pull ups, then two chin ups. Since I was using the door mounted P90X chin up bars I had to drop to the floor between each set so I did not rock the bar.

Expert trainer Tony Horton moves on to Plyo Runner Lunges which is simply a runner pose where you alternate the front foot position. I enjoyed this move because it was first non-pull-up move in this workout, so my body was stretched out, instead of being in a bent compact position.

We then move back to the pull-ups. This time it a V pull-up. This is a standard pull-up, except at the top of the pull-up you finish with the chin alternating over your left and right hand forming the V.

The Spinning Fighter Squats are a standard in Tony’s P90X workouts. These are no different except that in this workout Tony spins three times in each direction, instead of the standard alternating between a left then a right spin. There is no way around it, these are fun!

Tony then moves back to No Kip Pulls which are the same as the first move. Then for the final move we have Jack-In-The Box knee tucks. In this move you start in a crouching position with your hands on the floor in front of you. Then, as the name implies, you pop up, raising you legs off the ground and tapping you knees at the top of the move.

I enjoyed the variety of plyo and pull-ups in the same workout. The combo allows this P90X One on One Base and Back work out to be an incredible option to burn off calories and while incorporating resistance training. As in all plyo workouts, Base and Back is as hard as you are willing to push yourself. The fact that this P90X workout’s unique moves are so much fun makes it easier to do so.

The benefits of this routine will be apparent as you build strength, stamina, and balance. One on One On One Leg for Legs is especially great if you play sports!

Set aside 48 minutes for this One on One workout. Tony starts out with a whacky 5 minute warmup where he just moves and jumps around the room to loosen up the muscles – very free form! He adds in some running in place, jumping jacks, and a few other choice moves to warm up your body. Really enjoyed the warmup and stretch, especially after sitting all day!

The On One Leg 4 Legs workout includes just 10 moves. Doesn’t sound like much does it? It is!

Russian squats are the first exercise and it’s a challenge. From a standing position with one leg out in front while balancing on the other leg, bend down with that free leg going towards the back. No toe tapping the floor on this one! Your quads will love you for this one – especially after 20 on each side.

On One Leg for Legs just gets better from there with Half Moon Lunges. Your legs will definitely be fatigued from this workout! Lunge out to the side and then touch the floor with the opposite leg in the air. Wow!

This workout is amazing if you want to strengthen your legs but don’t think you will be playing a game of software or running after the workout! You are almost guaranteed to have “jello legs” – mine were! And there’s more – remember, 10 moves!

Don’t worry, Tony winds down the 4 Legs workout with a well deserved stretch! You’ll need it!

P90X One on One, On One Leg 4 Legs is a great workout. It’s not easy but why would you want that? You get everything you need to build those leg muscles and improve your balance!

P90X One On One Shoulder And Arms is the ultimate one-two combination workout. This home-fitness DVD takes muscle confusion to another level. As Tony Horton says, it doesn’t just confuse your muscles it confounds them!

The Shoulders and Arms MC2 workout begins in a similar fashion to Diamond Delts. For the first twenty five minutes, Tony Horton takes you through super elevated pikes presses, vertical presses, and shoulder flys.

A pike press is the equivalent of a push-up with the top of your head parallel to the floor and even with your push up bars. For a super elevated pike press, Tony Horton elevates his feet about four and a half feet in the air. If attempting the elevated version of the pike press I highly recommend the P90X Power Stands. When using typical push-up bars, I noticed that they would flex with each push-up and be somewhat distracting. The P90X Power Stands are made with a thick grade steel and have angled handles that ensure your wrists are not bent at a haphazard angle.

After cycling trough four sets of these moves Tony advances onto the second half of the P90X One on One Shoulders and Arms workout. This consists of bicep curls, overhead barbell raises, and single arm isolation curls.

The overhead barbell raises are unique in that Tony lays on a balance ball to perform the move. By using the ball, each rep incorporates the entire core to stabilize your body on the balance ball. Single arm isolation curls are simply where you would do a one arm curl four times while holding the other arm with weight in the halfway position. Then you switch arms.

One surprise in this workout was when Tony started a set, instead of reaching for his typical weights, he reached for resistance bands to show how to modify the move for people that don’t have the correct weights or aren’t comfortable yet performing a move with weights. Up to this point I had never seen Tony Horton use a resistance band. It was a fun change of pace.

Tony also covered how to use a calm anger to push though a hard rep. It was a unique insight into how Tony Horton motivates himself though his workouts. Personally, I hope for more of this in the upcoming P90X One On One workouts.

Shoulders And Arms MC2 is the perfect workout for those looking for a full shoulder and arm workout. There’s about 10 minutes of Tony talking so it’s easy to push your max weight and recover before the next set. If you want cut arms and shoulders this is the DVD you need!

Over the years I tried a plethora of what could be kindly called “recovery” drinks and was always disappointed by the results. Some had more sugar than a soda while others were chalky with excess of protein and nothing else to balance out the recovery drink. Neither of these was something that my stomach would enjoy after an intense workout.

After 3 weeks of doing Shaun T’s Insanity workout, I still noticed that my body was completely exhausted halfway though my workout. I decided to give the Results And Recovery Formula a try.

The taste can best be described as a smooth orange flavor. The 39 grams of carbohydrates and 10 grams of protein provides a balance that would put any vitamin store drinks to shame. Any worries you may have about taking in excess calories after a workout can be put to rest as there are only 220 calories per a serving.

I noticed some concern from people on TeamBeachbody.com or other message boards – those who already take a creatine supplement and are concerned that by taking the P90X Results and Recovery Formula they may be taking too much creatine. The Results and Recovery Formula contains just 500 mg of Creatine Monohydrate. This is about 1/20th of what is in a typical servings of creatine powder such as Pure Creatine. It provides exactly the level your body needs while not causing any issues with creating supplement users.

The first week of taking the P90X Recovery Formula I noticed my muscles were a little less sore. By the 2nd week, my muscles were no longer hitting the wall. Per Tony Horton’s advice, as suggested in his P90X workouts, I started sipping on my drink towards the middle of my workout. I was able to push myself even harder as I neared the end of the workout than I had ever been able to before. Now, two months into my use of the Results and Recovery Formula, my only regret is that I didn’t try it during my first round of P90X. It is certainly on hand now that I am on Volume Three of P90X One On One. Give the Results And Recover Formula a try, your muscles will thank you!

P90X Chest, Back & Balls is the first DVD of Volume 3 in the P90X One on One series. Unlike P90X One on One Volumes 1 and 2, which can be thought of as an extension of the P90X, Tony Horton takes a different approach in Volume Three. Tony is developing P90X:MC2, the next P90X fitness program. Volume 3 is being used as his test kitchen. If you purchase all 12 of P90X volume 3 you also get a 50 percent discount on P90X:MC2 when it’s released in late 2011.

P90X One On One Chest, Back & Balls is the most challenging of all the One On One workouts. These workouts consist mainly of push-ups and pull-ups. The pull-ups range from what is performed along the running paths in any town, to what seems to be a pull-up using the same motion used to build momentum on a swing, swinging yourself up and forward. For someone like me, who feels that pull-ups are old hat, the extra challenge of performing the extra movements in the swinging pull-ups was a real treat and made me feel as if I was doing my first pull-up ever!

I’m a big pushup fan, but have been looking for a challenge other than just trying to increase my maximum reps. I found it in Chest, Back, and Balls. By using a basketball, a balance ball, and a medicine ball, Tony turns a basic upper body strength movement into an maddening difficult exercise in total body strength and balance. While performing my sets I could feel my chest muscles being forced to focus, push and stretch in ways I never though or hoped I could achieve outside of a gym with thousands of dollars in equipment.

In my first few attempts at Tony’s pushups, I failed miserably. By my third try with P90X One On One DVD, I was able to achieve what I like to call the “Tony Horton Stamp of Approval.”

Unlike most of Tony Horton’s other workouts, to complete this workout to the same level, you will need to have 3 or 4 medicine balls, one core balance ball and a fixed in place pull-up bar. I was disappointed in the extra cost of these items and was surprised by the fact that my P90X pull-up bar was not able to securely stay in place for up to a third of Tony’s pull-up exercises. Also anyone that substitutes a resistance band will be unable to perform the vast majority of the pull-up sets.

Despite the added cost of the extra equipment, I have come to enjoy this workout for what it is : an upper body strength and balance workout that complements its lower body counter part from Volume 2, One on One, On One Leg.

Ab Ripper X 2 (ARX2) is the number 2 disc in the new Volume 3 P90X One on One series. The tip of the day for these workout is “perfect your form!” At 47 minutes long, Tony goes through the intense ab core moves and when his form starts going south and he cannot do them properly, he stops and goes to the next move.

Tony has never done this sequence of ab exercises. There are 20 sets of killer core moves! When these ab routines makes it to the all new P90X:MC2, Tony will try to keep it under 30 minutes.

ARX2 begins with a nice hamstring stretch for a couple of minutes. Then it’s on to Ab Ripper X 2 move number 1 – Banana 2 Crunch! There are no planned number of reps for these core ab exercises – Tony Horton does as many as he can and you should too! The average reps range from 10 to 30.

Although the ARX2 DVD is 47 minutes, you have lots of time inbetween ab exercises as Tony is taking notes and talking about the exercises. Remember, this is the making of P90X:MC2. When the new P90X:MC2 comes out, you can be sure that you won’t have all that time inbetween exercises!

Make no mistake, these Ab Ripper X 2 exercises are a core killer! They are much tougher than the exercises in P90X Ab Ripper X. What is different about Ab Ripper X vs. Ab Ripper X 2? P90X Ab Ripper X exercises use shorter range of motion making it easier to do higher reps. With Ab Ripper X 2, the exercises are so dynamic, with so many more muscle groups involved, it’s harder to get those high reps. But you will get a more intense workout!

You be engaging your abs from every angle with moves like Sissor Twist, Oblique Roll Crunch, and The Abronome! These exercises are core shredders! I am happy to report that I hung in there and did them all. What can I say? I am a P90X grad afterall! I was breaking a sweat after this ARX2 workout and struggled, believe me!

Tony finishes out the Ab Ripper X 2 workout with Bicycle 100. This exercise alone could possibly be your whole ab routine!

Ab Ripper X 2 is a great workout! Takes a little longer then it needs to with Tony taking notes and talking, but for the abs-core exercises, it’s worth it! Need 6-pack abs? Get this workout DVD!

The new P90X One on One workouts are tough, packed with 50 to 60 minutes of advanced exercises MC2 (Muscle Confusion 2) style! When you are finished with a P90X One on One workout, you may need a little nutritious post-workout health shake. Shakeology has everything you need to stay healthy and nourished.

Tony Horton, the creator of P90X, P90X One on One, and the upcoming P90X:MC2 workouts recommends Shakeology as an excellent post-workout drink!

When you drink Shakeology, you get everything you need: protein, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, greens and much more! Fitness is not an independent activity. It goes hand in hand with fueling your body with the right nutrients.

Shakeology has all the good stuff your body needs to stay healthy and nourished. All it takes is some water and a scoop of Shakeology. It’s easy! It’s much better than putting junk food in your body. You can use a blender or shaker cup.

When you do a tough workout like P90X One on One, your body and muscles will be depleted, that’s why you may feel exhausted. By fueling yourself with an excellent shake like Shakeology, you are also preparing your body for the next workout (I know, you can’t wait!)

The best news is that Shakeology is low in calories. Many people mistakenly grab the wrong high calorie foods after a tough workout because they feel so depleted and hungry. Then they wonder why they don’t lose weight! Shakeology can help you get powerful nutrients, low calories, and weight loss!

I do P90X and P90X One on One workouts. I love the workouts but they do tire me out and the muscle soreness – on fiyah! So I regularly started drinking Shakeology (chocolate, of course with peanut butter). It really works wonders for me! Plus I lost a few pounds! We have tons of great recipes too!

If you have not tried Shakeology, you will be happy to know that we have a bottom of the bag guarantee. That’s right. We stand behind our products!

Listen to what Tony Horton has to say about Shakeology as he mixes up some Greenberry Shakeology as a post-workout treat!

One on One with Tony Horton is the perfect follow-up program to maintain an build on your results!

All of the One on One workouts are of the same extreme intensity as P90X, just shorter. Most of these workouts are 20-40 minutes long. Similar to the P90X routines, each unique workout targets a specific area or muscle group. If you crave variety and want to keep challenging yourself, these fitness DVDs will continue to keep your muscles confused and keep you interested!

How Does One on One Work with P90X, Insanity, or ChaLEAN Extreme?

You can blend or swap out One on One workouts with your P90X, INSANITY™, or ChaLEAN Extreme® routines; use them to get ready for your sport of choice; or target a specific area with focused, intense exercises.

For example, if you want an alternative to the Yoga X DVD, replace it with Fountain of Youth for a shorter but equally effective yoga workout. If you want specific training for your upcoming ski trip, try the Mammoth UML routine. If you’re ready for the mother of all upper-body workouts, get ultimate results with 30-15: The Upper Body Massacre.

Here are some possible alternatives to your P90X routine:

Yoga X – replace with Fountain of Youth

Shoulders & arms – replace with Diamond Delts

Plyometrics – replace with Plyo Legs

Chest, shoulders & triceps – replace with 30-15: The Upper- Body Massacre

Cardio X – replace with Super Cardio

I am sure you can think of even more way to rotate the One on One with Tony Horton DVDs into your INSANITY or ChaLEAN Extreme workouts!

Volume One and Two’s 12 workouts are already available and can be ordered individually, or as a complete set in their own collector wallet – pick and choose the ones you want to use with your extreme workout!
